Thankful

As tradition has dictated thus far, we spent our weekend surrounded by family and friends at the cottage; we do our best to detach ourselves from the usual day-to-day. We typically spend most of our time eating and drinking and then joking about how much we just ate and drank.

This year I’m taking the time to share what I have to be thankful for.

Family #

Preparing a lunch for thirty people is no simple feat. There are those who awoke at five in the morning to stuff turkeys, and others who helped prepare hams, soup, pies, mashed potatoes and more. I am so thankful and proud to be part of a family that works so hard to give one another this gift that we all get to share in.

Opportunity #

Our grandparents came to this amazing country with literally nothing but the clothes on their backs. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have been afforded: to learn, to love and live freely. None of this would be possible without the strength and sacrifices of of our parents and the brave men and women who have died defending this great country.

Work #

As I said, we do our best to detach ourselves – I do no succeed at this. As is often the case with me, I never truly leave my work at the office. I use the word work, but perhaps passion is a better choice – I haven’t felt like I have worked a day since joining Polar Mobile. I am so thankful to truly love what I do. So much of our lives are spent at work, I am lucky to share my time with truly awesome people that inspire me to build and ship great things.

My Wife #

I am not an easy person to live with, truth be told. I have a somewhat insatiable appetite for knowledge and a level of focus that can often be exclusionary. I am so thankful that my wonderful wife continues to love and support me in everything that I do, despite all these flaws. She is the rock by which I have built my life. I love you.

A Heartbeat #

Finally what I am most thankful for this thanksgiving is being able to hear this heart beat for the very first time.

A Heartbeat

I’m not sure anything can truly prepare you for this moment, but if you can, imagine a sound that instantly fills your entire heart with pure joy.

It’s been awhile

I haven’t blogged in years, that is, if tweeting doesn’t count as blogging – which it doesn’t. I’m a rather opinionated guy (read: insufferable), and often these 140 and 256 character limits don’t quite give me the latitude to truly... Continue →
